Greetings Meadowbrook Community Residents,
I am excited about this upcoming meeting because we are most fortunate to have two important speakers from SDOT.
Firstly, the Director himself, Scott Kubly, will make a presentation on the Mayor’s new MoveSeattle Levy that we will be voting on in November, 2015. The levy is in its draft stage and Scott and his Department are seeking citizen input before they finalize it for the ballot. So, please give some serious thought to what you think needs fixing, or read the proposed levy on line @ www.seattle.gov/Levy to MoveSeattle , to help you be more informed when you come to the meeting.
MCC’s Greenways group has met and conducted a few site visits and will have some questions/requests for Scott.
Our second speaker will be Art Brochet, SDOT’s Transportation’s communications representative. He will provide the latest updates on the Northgate Pedestrian and Bicycle Project; a project he spoke to us about over a year ago. New attempts at finding funds are being made. Especially after the effort to procure some Federal funds failed.
In addition, updates and reports on the following will also be provided:
1- NE 110th sidewalk status: engineering issues to be resolved and probable construction start dates for all segments, (e.g., 39th/40th segment is at 90% design, could cost nearly $1m to build, construction to start in 2016)(Dan Keefe);
2- Report on the Greenways groups tour and status of 105th/35th intersection improvement proposal(Dan Keefe);
3- Community Garden and Orchards: current status and plans for 2015 (Richard Anderson);
4- Thornton Creek e coli issue: status of Creek and update search for major sources, especially in the Littlebrook drainage (Dan Keefe);
5- Public Safety: (Aundie Collison);
6- Membership growth committee: plans going forward (Pam Bowe).
As usual, an agenda will be provided at the meeting.
Looking forward to your attendance…Dan Keefe, President
