Happy New Year to you all and I trust and hope you all had a good holiday season.

Meadowbrook Community Council

For our first meeting in 2016, interestingly as in January 2015, our featured presenter will be Brian Dougherty of SDOT who will present the 100% completion drawings (up from 60% in 2015…slow going!) for sidewalk segment between 39th and 40th aves on N 110th street and will share where he is at on the other NE 110th segments. His projected construction schedule will also be discussed which I believe will start mid-year.

The meeting will be at the Meadowbrook Community Center on Tuesday, January 12th, and will start at 7pm.

On Dec. 16th we had our first Meadowbrook Sidewalk Committee meeting with Brian Dougherty in attendance. We wanted to get rolling ASAP in order to take advantage of the money set aside for sidewalks, especially the less expensive stamped asphalt type, in the new MoveSeattle levy that was voted for last November. The committee includes representatives from Jane Addams middle school and John Rogers as well as MCC members. The committee will be very active and will report on activities at each meeting in 2016 and beyond. We already have a couple of early successes for sidewalks to share with you at the meeting. The committee is also open to anyone who wants to participate. Our Meadowbrook Greenways Group is being folded into the sidewalks committee.

As members of the North District Council, we are being required to “re-certify” our council in compliance with NDC’s bylaws. This will be a breeze, but I have additional info to share. Standing reports on the garden, crime and the website will also be presented and ideas on topics for future meetings in 2016 will, as always, be welcome. Agendas will be available at the meeting.

Mark your calendars– Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Although I no longer live in Seattle and involved in the sidewalk committee, I want to thank you for your continued support and patience with SDOT in trying to get ,( what took so long for me), to complete the “missing link” on NE110TH , 30th and 40th.
Thanks to Pam Bowe, Sam Otis and those in the neighborhood that keep pushing this ongoing, (8.5 years now) issue for a sidewalk that is way overdue.
All the best to you and keep up the great work you’re doing for the community Dan !!!
