Meadowbrook Community Council

Meadowbrook Community Council

Welcome to Fall! Off to a great start. Good to be back from colorful Colorado! The aspen were incredible!! The meeting will be in the regular downstairs meeting room in the Meadowbrook Community Center on October 10, 2017 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

Our featured presenter will be Scott Lindsay, Assistant DA who is running against Mr. Holmes. He will make a brief presentation and then will take questions. Please come prepared with a few burning questions.

The Sidewalk Committee will provide an update on the various projects Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has been working on in our area. As many of you can see, the John Rogers’ sidewalk has been completed, finally. We have flashing beacon crosswalks in several locations and speed humps/cushions are seemingly everywhere. We will talk about what SDOT plans to do next before the rains come. Also, just a heads up, the Department of Neighborhoods Your Voice, Your Choice program will be accepting proposals starting in late November. We will have a DON rep visit with us at our November 14th meeting.

Announcements about various city events will be made such as public hearings on single family dwelling ADUs and debates between candidates for city council positions 8 and 9. Also, on Nov 6th our State legislative reps will hold a town hall type meeting hosted by North District Council at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 630pm. Tim Motzer, Lake City Neighborhood Alliance (LCNA) is asking for volunteers to testify at one or more of the 3 budget meetings being held at City Hall related to funding his 27.5 cent solution for aging park facilities (presented at our July meeting).

Finally, the Community Garden and Orchards continues to have a robust harvest, but a bit less than last several years due to our unusually hot and dry summer. Still, whatever excess they have is being donated to the North Helpline food bank.

Please mark your calendars– Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting.
