After a year long search for a new location, the NE Seattle Tool Library signed a lease on a new place — the historic “LaVilla Dairy” building that had housed the Shutter Shop. It is just off Lake City Way in the Meadowbrook neighborhood. Loan operations should move around March.
Address: 10228 Fischer Pl NE
I helped evaluate the building and feel it is about as good as we could have expected. It keeps the library near the geographic center of NE Seattle and offers more space which was really needed.
A major challenge is the monthly rent. The current cash flow is not sufficient to cover it, although long term growth should take care of it.
You can help by renewing your membership, starting a membership if not a member, and/or making a one time donation.
For a sneak preview inside, visit during the open house, Saturday January 27th from 2 – 4pm.
We will have a need for volunteer labor and shelving materials. Contact Chris or Mike at the Tool Library. Website: http://neseattletoollibrary.org/
